TradeStation, the online brokerage eyeing a cryptocurrency exchange, just registered TradeStation Crypto, Inc. with the state of Florida. A person familiar with the matter told Investopedia that the intention is to launch a platform in the next three to six months that would enable customers to trade in digital tokens – potentially by both purchasing and selling cryptocurrency.
It’s not clear what name the exchange will have. TradeStation’s parent Monex Group, Inc. (MNXBF) views Coincheck, the cryptocurrency exchange it purchased earlier this year, as a global brand. In order for Coincheck to operate in the U.S., it would need to be licensed here, which explains the registration in Florida.
